Stars Over Serendipity

Photo Gallery

Our Quilt Along with Linda Grigsby is ready to begin!

STARS OVER SERENDIPITY is what we are calling it! The pattern is composed of all public domain stars which have been altered a little for our quilt. It is specifically created for advanced beginners and up, so just about everyone can do the blocks. It can be a stash buster, scrap quilt, planned quilt, really whatever you want it to be.
You will see by the directions that Linda used the Tula Pink Homemade line. She had a half yard of a whole bunch of the designs and had plenty left over. Lenny has tested it and used her batik stash. Anything goes.

starting May 7th.

Linda used Deb Tucker’s Studio 180 tools.

Lenny used: That Patchwork Place Bias Square ruler, Creative Grids 6.5" square ruler and a Fiskars 6.5" ruler. Each ruler was helpful in their own way.

But you can certainly use whatever rulers you have.

Pictured below, we have used an alternate setting block that was used to make the quilt bigger. Towards the end we will give you some ideas for setting blocks etc. Ideas are still flowing, so we will update you as we progress.

We are looking forward to seeing your blocks as you make them - consider sharing your
pictures in the Serendipity Stir Crazy Sewing Chicks Facebook Group.

Thank you so much for joining us. If you have any questions, please email Linda Grigsby at beehivequiltworks@gmail.comLinda will be happy to help you however she can!

Information regarding Lenny's "Stars Over Serendipity" quilt layout:

She used the Creative Grids Strippy Stars tool. Sashing was 3" and used approximately 1 yard of fabric for sashing and stars. Great ruler and makes these stars easy. And it makes up to a 14" star!

Block Patterns:

Linda's Helpful Hints - For very loose fabric requirements, that give you choices in your blocks: I would have 6-8 half yard colors and 1 yard of background. Really most blocks use 3-4 fabrics with one using 5, but it’s great to have fun choices! You will have leftover fabric for sure.

Lenny's Helpful Hints - if choosing to use one consistent background color throughout the blocks (look at the two quilt photos above for reference): you will use the same size cuts for different blocks. You might want to cut a couple of 5.5" WOF strips, one 4.5" WOF strip, one 3.5" WOF strip, and one 6" WOF strip. Pin a piece of paper, or write on the selvages - the size of the strip. You may need to cut more strips as you go along but this gives you a good start for several blocks.
