Quilted Sweatshirt Jacket
In this class, you will make a quilting jacket using only one piece of fabric. In order to get this jacket completed in one day, your must arrive at 9:30 am and be set-up and ready to begin at 10 am. By the end of class, you will begin your binding. You may have to complete your binding and sewing your buttons on at home. This class is for an advance quilter.
Supplies Needed:
- Sweatshirt, one size larger than you would normally wear
- 2-1/4 yards of 45" fabric for sweatshirt sizes XS to XL (additional fabric needed for larger sizes)
- Quilt Basting Spray (505 Spray or similiar)
- Thread to match the sweatshirt
- Thread to quilt your fabric to the sweatshirt (try a speciality or varigated thread)
- Ruler to mark quilting lines
- Washable pen or pencil
- Sewing Machine (quilting foot and bar supplied with sewing machine)
- *Double Needle (2.5 or 3.0) *if trying double needling grid quilting
- Basic Sewing Supplies
- Rotary Cutter & Mat
- Buttons (optional if you want buttons)
- Pre-wash your sweatshirt and all fabric
- Remove ribbing from sleeves, neck, and bottom of the sweatshirt
- Remove sleeves from the sweatshirt and open up flat.
- Open Shoulder seams
- Press all fabric(s) and sweatshirt including all sleeve pieces.
