Countdown to 2021 - 12 weeks of projects and seasonal fun!
Week 1
Our first project is an oldy but goody. Let's revisit the Star Mat! When Sherry first started working at the shop about 8 years ago, she shared this pattern she had made up that she called a Star Mat. It's so simple and just uses 2 coordinating 6" X WOF fabric strips and a 2/3 yd piece cut in half horizontally (looks sort of like a square) for the back.
Use a 6" by 24" ruler and use the 60 Degree line to cut diamonds along the 6" strips.
You will get 4 from each strip (1 extra to play with).
Here is the link to the free pattern on our website: https://www.serendipityquiltshop.com/free-patterns.htm
Sherry has included an illustration of how to sew the diamonds together simply. These make great gifts for any holiday/season/occasion.
HINTS: Your ruler and your strips MUST be the same width- 6" strip and 6" ruler. Most common mistake is thinking your 6 1/2" ruler is 6".
Post a photo of this project to the Serendipity Stir Crazy Sewing Chicks facebook group or email a photo to Kathy@serendipityquiltshop.com to be entered into a drawing for a free star mat kit!
Photo must be submitted by Friday - 10/23/20.
Drawing on Saturday - 10/24/20.
HAVE FUN! I just made the new fall samples and had forgotten how quick and fun they are. Perfect to send to someone you haven't seen for awhile- to say "hi".
